Sustainable Development Institute Intensifies Awareness on National Oil Palm Strategy and Action Plan in South East Liberia.

By SDI Communication Team

The Sustainable Development Institute (SDI) through its Community Rights and Corporate Governance Program (CRCGP) is in Sinoe County creating awareness of the National Oil Palm Strategy and Action Plan of Liberia (NOPSAP)

NOPSAP is a five-year strategic plan developed by the government of Liberia through the Ministry of Agriculture in partnership with the private sector (oil Palm concessions), NGOs, and CSOs to improve and regulate the oil Palm sector of Liberia.

The purpose of the two-day event is to popularize the NOPSAP in oil Palm-affected communities in the southeast.

It’s also intended to ensure that the document is not shelved in Monrovia and that key messages developed from the document are explained and distributed amongst local communities.

Participants benefiting from the awareness include: Community Forests Management Bodies (CFMBs), local leaders, youth leaders, women leaders, members and leaders of the multi-stakeholders platform (MSPs), heads of customary land committees (Community Land Development Management Committees CLDMCs) among others.

The first engagement and awareness session took place on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, in Kilo’s Town, Numopoh district, Sinoe County.

The two-day awareness-raising meeting will end in Kabada Town, Sinoe County on June 26, 2024.

Sixty (60) participants are benefiting from the awareness sessions facilitated by Richard N. Sam and Sampson Williams as Lead facilitators.
