Israel, September 2025 – Fifty-eight young Liberians have departed for Israel to pursue advanced studies in agriculture under the 2025/2026 program of the Arava International Center for Agriculture Training (AICAT).

The students will undergo an intensive 11-month program that blends theory and hands-on training, with a focus on modern farming systems, agribusiness management, and food production. The initiative is part of a growing partnership between Liberia and AICAT aimed at building the capacity of the country’s next generation of agricultural professionals.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Peter Kollie thanked AICAT for the opportunity, noting that the program strengthens Liberia-Israel relations while investing in Liberia’s agricultural future. He also commended Jacob B. Dennis, Liberia’s AICAT Coordinator, for his leadership in ensuring Liberian students benefit from such opportunities, and lauded members of the Liberian community in Israel for supporting the new arrivals.

Each year, Mr. Dennis coordinates the travel of dozens of Liberian students to Israel, where they graduate with an Advanced Certificate in Agricultural Technology. His efforts have earned him recognition as a key driver of the partnership.

Agriculture is the backbone of Liberia’s economy but continues to face challenges such as outdated farming methods, limited technology transfer, and low productivity. Training programs like AICAT are seen as crucial in equipping young Liberians with modern tools and knowledge to help transform the sector upon their return.

The Liberia–AICAT collaboration stands as an example of how strategic international partnerships can accelerate national development goals. By investing in youth, building capacity, and promoting knowledge transfer, the program promises to help Liberia move closer to food security, reduced imports, and sustainable agricultural growth.
