Tubmanburg, Bomi County – In a move aimed at bolstering agricultural productivity, the Government of Liberia, through the Cooperative Development Agency (CDA), has delivered vital farming implements to more than two hundred farmers across five cooperatives in Bomi County.

The distribution, held on Saturday, February 22nd, 2025, seeks to empower smallholder farmers and enhance their self-sufficiency in food production. Madam Edwina J. Boima, Deputy Registrar at the Cooperative Development Agency, emphasized that this initiative forms part of the government’s ongoing commitment to agricultural advancement in the region. She highlighted the significance of these tools in enabling farmers to optimize their yields and improve their economic standing.

Madam Boima further revealed that this effort aligns with President Joseph Boakai’s ARREST agenda, where agriculture stands as a pivotal pillar in Liberia’s development strategy. The donated items, including wheelbarrows, shovels, cutlasses, watering cans, and diggers, collectively valued at over three thousand United States dollars, aim to equip farmers for enhanced productivity.

Among the cooperatives benefiting from this donation are Momorme Cooperative, Burphy Cooperative, Serious Farmers Cooperative, Barmor Cooperative, and Lofa Women Agriculture Cooperative.

Farmers who received the tools expressed profound gratitude to the Government of Liberia and the CDA, underscoring the timeliness and importance of the support provided.

Tamba Kpanamah from the Serious Farmers Cooperative highlighted the indispensable role these tools play in their daily farming activities, foreseeing increased production with additional assistance.

The donation is anticipated to significantly contribute to increasing agricultural output in Bomi County, aligning with national efforts to achieve food security.
