KAKATA, Margibi County – Liberia Agro Power Incorporated, a local agribusiness company, has opened its first farm tools, seed, and agrochemical outlet in Kakata, aimed at promoting modern and commercial farming practices among smallholder farmers in Margibi County.
The new sales point, located in central Kakata, provides farmers with access to improved seeds, fertilizers, farm tools, animal feed, and technical guidance designed to increase productivity and income.
Abraham King, Chief Executive Officer of Liberia Agro Power, said the initiative seeks to support farmers in transitioning from traditional subsistence farming to agribusiness.
“Our goal is to help farmers move from hand-to-mouth survival to commercial farming,” King said. “We want every farmer to see agriculture not just as a tradition, but as a business.”
The company’s product line includes high-yield vegetable seeds such as hot pepper, lettuce, eggplant, bitter ball, radish, and cabbage. It also offers a range of farm implements, including cutlasses, rakes, and slashing irons, along with animal feeds like wheat bran and mixed rations for poultry and livestock.
Agro Power’s agrochemical supplies feature the Arachnida 480SL herbicide, which targets weeds in cassava, groundnut, and bean farms, and the 480SL maturity enhancer, known for accelerating the ripening of bananas and pineapples and improving sugar content in sugarcane.
King, a final-year agriculture student at the William R. Tolbert College of Agriculture and Forestry, University of Liberia, said the company will also provide advisory and technical support to farmers to ensure effective use of modern inputs and methods.
Margibi County, often referred to as Liberia’s “rubber belt,” remains heavily dependent on small-scale farming for food and income. Local farmers say Agro Power’s entry could mark a turning point for agricultural productivity in the region.
With the new outlet now operational, farmers in Kakata and surrounding communities have easier access to quality inputs and modern farming solutions, bringing new optimism for increased yields and improved livelihoods across Margibi County.
