The training was held on Thursday, September 24, in Tormue Town, Jorquelleh District #2, and Saturday, September 26, in Yowee Town, District #4, bringing together community members, farmers, and agriculture professionals.
Speaking to journalists at the conclusion of the training, YALL Executive Director Edwin Boakai said the initiative was designed to strengthen the knowledge and practical skills of rural farmers in sustainable agriculture.
The training focused on several agroecological and sustainable farming practices, including mulching, water conservation, crop rotation, organic farming, and integrated pest management, among other topics.
In Tormue Town, participants benefited from practical lessons aimed at improving their understanding of organic farming and sustainable agricultural practices.
The training provided community members with knowledge and techniques they can apply to improve farm productivity while promoting environmentally responsible farming.
Participants also had the opportunity to interact with agriculture professionals, share their farming experiences, and discuss practical approaches to addressing challenges affecting agricultural production in their communities.
Boakai said initiatives of this nature are important in strengthening farmers’ capacity, promoting sustainable food production, and supporting community efforts to address food insecurity.
He further expressed appreciation to Friends of Liberia for sponsoring the training and supporting efforts to equip local farmers with practical knowledge that can contribute to stronger and more resilient communities.
Also speaking in separate interviews, Musu Tokpah, Johnson Kerkulah, and other participants expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing the knowledge gained as valuable to their farming activities.
