The Liberia Macroeconomic Policy Analysis Center under the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning has embarked on a fifteen-day field assessment tour on two major sectors of the Liberian economy.

According to LIMPAC’s Executive Director Dr. Padolo Moye, the assessment tour is meant to identify issues hindering the overall growth of the Agriculture and Mining sectors.

He lamented that the field assessment is also focused on ascertaining the views of the locals on accelerating growth in the two sectors and as well crafting a strategic roadmap that would transform these sectors.

Dr. Moye highlighted Climate Change as one of the vices impacting agriculture: adding that soliciting the opinions of stakeholders in the sector on tackling the menace was necessary.

“We want to hear from the local farmers who are the key players in the agriculture sector; nowadays, they cry too much from low yields due to climate change. We are hoping to work with the Ministry of Agriculture in formulating policies to address the situation”, he noted.

He furthered that the Liberia Macroeconomic Policy Analysis Center has observed that natural resources including diamonds is becoming low in reserve.

Dr. Moye continued that findings from the survey will be critically analyzed and recommendations will be proffered to the national government for action.

“Our job is to collect data from across the different sectors, process them into policy, and present them to the National government for further actions” Dr. Moye stated.

The survey is expected to be staged in four of Liberia’s fifteen including Bong, Nimba, Lofa and Gbarpolu Counties. Dr. Moye spoke in an interview with Journalists Thursday in Gbarnga.
