Carbonibus and Firestone Liberia Provide Clean Cookstoves to 1,300 Households

By Firestone Liberia Communication Team

Firestone Liberia, in collaboration with Carbonibus, an international carbon offset program developer focused on high-impact projects in sub-Saharan Africa, has introduced a transformative initiative aimed at enhancing access to clean cooking solutions for Liberian families.

This partnership seeks to address the challenges faced by households that rely on traditional cooking methods, which often involve the use of inefficient cook pots that contribute to environmental degradation and health hazards.

The transition to clean cookstoves offers numerous benefits to households, including financial savings through reduced fuel usage, improved well-being by minimizing smoke emissions during cooking, and environmental preservation by decreasing the demand for wood fuel, which in turn helps combat deforestation. By adopting clean cookstoves, Liberian families can enjoy a more sustainable and healthier way of cooking while also contributing to the conservation of natural resources, a release from Firestone Liberia emphasized.

Since the inception of this partnership, over 1,300 households within the Firestone Liberia concession have received clean cookstoves, marking a significant milestone in our commitment to addressing energy poverty and promoting sustainable development.

This initiative is just the beginning of the companyโ€™s ongoing efforts to expand access to clean cooking solutions and contribute towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set forth by the United Nations.

Through the collaborative efforts of Firestone Liberia and Carbonibus, the company is not only providing families with the necessary tools to improve their quality of life but also playing a role in safeguarding the environment for future generations. By supporting initiatives that promote clean energy access and sustainable practices, Firestone thinks it is contributing to a brighter and more sustainable future for all Liberians.

The adoption of clean cookstoves in Liberia presents a valuable opportunity to improve environmental sustainability.ย  It would help reduce deforestation, lower greenhouse gas emissions, promote the efficient use of resources and contribute significantly to the preservation of Liberia’s natural environment. These benefits, combined with the health and economic advantages, make clean cookstoves a crucial component of sustainable development strategies in Liberia.
